Anime Vanguards — Where Gems, Rerolls, and Update Codes Go

3 min read

Which Anime Vanguards units are worth the banner, why trait rerolls are the real code reward, and which September codes are still worth redeeming.

Rerolls Are the Reward That Matters

Anime Vanguards codes pay gems, memoria shards, and trait rerolls. The reroll is the one you feel on a unit you are keeping. Gems summon. Shards upgrade. A code spent on a unit you will sell next banner was a free summon for the trash pile.

Level gates are real. MiniUpd2 and Wrath want level 30. Retribution opens earlier, at level 10. AnniNextHopefully and Assault joined the list on 17 September: rerolls, shards, and a smaller gem pile. Prepare is the Red Key, the longer-lived leftover. Redeem them before you decide they "probably expired." The mid-September rumor did not clear the older three.

Most update codes want level 30. If the box rejects you, you are under-leveled, not unlucky.

Units Worth a Banner

Demon Leader (Control) cuts deployment costs and boosts Demon Hunter allies. God (Above Heaven) is the AoE and time-stop. Song Jinwu and Igros summon without eating a placement slot. Gujo (Infinity) stalls waves with wide stuns. Those are the names that still justify a gem pile.

Update 13.5's Vanguard and Secret — Today's Strongest vs History's Strongest, and Raging Oni vs Wrath God — are banner targets, not beginner crafts. Update 14's Reckless Gambler and Divine General are the raid and rift units. Pull them if that update is the account's goal. Do not pull them because a code gave you 5,000 gems and the button was lit.

Save gems for one banner. Splitting gems across every update leaves you with four half-built units and no trait worth rerolling.

Reroll the Unit You Will Place

Use trait rerolls on the unit that is already in your late-game loadout. A perfect trait on a placeholder is a screenshot. The loadout is the six you place when the wave is mean.

Read the code reward before you redeem. A memoria-shard code and a reroll code are different sessions. Shards go into the unit you are evolving. Rerolls go into the trait screen of that same unit. Redeeming everything in the lobby and logging off wastes the session the reward was for.

Kat and the older meme strings are not the plan. If they are in the expired list, leave them there.

Story, Raids, and Why Level 30 Exists

Clear the story until level 30 so the update codes work. Raids and rift bosses are where the Update 14 units earn their place. Taking a new account into a raid because a code mentioned the boss is how you get carried and learn nothing.

Placement matters more than the rarest name. A cheaper unit that stalls, plus one burst unit, clears waves a single secret cannot if you drop it in the wrong lane.

When a new update code drops, it usually lives a short window. The codes page is the check. Discord is where Kitawari posts it first. We add it after it redeems.

A Gem Spend You Will Not Regret

Redeem the live codes. Level the account if you are under 30. Pick one unit from the top of the tier list that you do not own. Spend gems there. Spend rerolls on that unit after it is in the loadout.

Do not chase every secret in the patch notes. The next update will have another one. The trait on the unit you already place is the thing the codes were for.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Which Anime Vanguards codes are worth it?

AnniNextHopefully, Assault, MiniUpd2, Wrath, Retribution, and Prepare. Rerolls and shards beat a small gem code if you already have a unit to put them on.

Why was my code rejected?

Update codes often need level 30. Retribution is the lower gate. Case and spaces matter.

What should I summon?

One banner unit you will place: Demon Leader, God, Gujo, or the current update's Vanguard if that is the hole in the loadout.
